Saludos,

Xolos have sweat glands in ther chest and abdomen, this allows them to sweat and regulate the temperature of their bodies, so they don't pant that much.
they also have sebaceous glands all over their bodies, some get obstructed forming blackheads, these can get infected and form pimples, so we need to have special attention to hairless xolos' skin.
Normaly this is a problem related to puberty, but alimentation is also an influence.

To prevent the best is apply once a day a hidratant body cream with a base of vitamin E, with almonds, to moisturize the skin and keep it soft, is recomendable apply after the bath, or as max. every 3 days.
Its recommended that when bathing a hipoalergenic shampoo or soap is used, scrub the skin with a fiber to exfoliate the skin and remove dead cels (not very hard so we won't hurt the xolo).

Light or spotted xolos need more sun protection to avoid solar burns, you can use sunblock against ultraviolet rays of the sun with a FPS 40 factor or superior to avoid sunburns or even skin cancer ofthose xolos that are outdoors all day.
The ingredients of the sunblock must be verified by the vet cause somedogs lick whatever you put on their skin.

Xolos constantly have scratches or minor wounds on their skin; to remove these wounds you can put Brosin (you can only get it at vets) or Neosporin on the scratch and when it heal a little bit of sun is enough to make the scratches disappear.

I hope those who have more time with xolos could give us some tips to help us keep our xolos' skin healthy or tell us a little bit more about this subject.

Greetings,

Hola!

Hi all,

According to results of researches made on xolo skin by brilliant people at the veterinarian school of UNAM in Mexico. Xolo skin is similar in characteristics to human old people skin, therefore the care most be done in the direction to keep it moistened the over all, as the lack of hydration can seriously harm the surface cells layers.

Than oils from different natural sources, (no mineral) are very good idea, while the dog is safe of side effect when licked.

At some of the most popular lotions and shampoos different kind of oils can be found. Been in my opinion the best to use those that contained Aloe Vera and Tea tree oil.

Remember that a naked dog can take a shower very often but no excessively. The dryness part is very important and to avoid the drafts too.

Regards

I've never tried Jojoba oil before...

I use body cream, the one that I like the most is Cucumber Melon from Bath&Body Works. It has cucumber and honeydew melon extracts, avocado oil, almond oil, fruit enzymes and calendula.
It smells very good!! And besides moisturize very good my xolo's skin it makes it softer Very Happy

Every once in a while I gently scrub their skin after the bath with olive oil and sugar, it removes the dead cells and makes the skin very soft.
It is very good to get rid of those nasty black heads and pimples Very Happy

Mestre,
Where can I find the Tea Tree Oil??
I know it's from "All System", but I don't know where I can find it.

Elena,
I've never heard about Bioderma cream, is it good??

Gio, mestre told me you could find tea tree oil in body shop and that it is better since the all system tea tree oil is too concentrated
